( the man, as he comes to a succinct stop, feels--like someone who knows better. there is no hesitance to his movements, and he does not quiver out of fear, or worry for his safety by leaving, as kyojuro had instructed him to do. rather, he lingers there, close enough to be within range of both of their voices; that, and the churning of the water beneath the bridge, seeming to clash and crash together in agitated little waves, is the only sound that he can hear. the city feels far away. even the man in the jacket, and his scrambling, is long gone. so, what does this stranger want?

well, by rights, it would appear he wants for the woman in the water. hashihime, he calls her, and there is a certain power in names, especially in knowing them. he's met plenty of demons who have happily divulged their names, their status, as though it made something worthwhile--the unhappy water demon, still below him, has not made any moves to address him at all. if this man knows more than him-- )

Well. ( there's a faint laugh, though it's not the sort that's done in blatant, unmeasured confidence; it's simply that the situation is, at best, a little ironic, a little humorful. ) It would appear she intends to confront me!

( but what good is he without his sword? fighting techniques, his usual speed, all of that may remain--dampened, as it is, by whatever shroud lays over the hellscape where they find themselves. to the stranger, he calls out again-- )

What do you know of her? Any weakness?

( his eyes, owlish as they are, pierce across the bridge towards the stranger--almost as if encouraging him closer, if only to get a better look. he's not the type to misjudge once he's been proven wrong; there's something about this man that's different. he can smell it. )
