[ Order... Van Zieks hesitates for a moment. The word is simple enough at its core, but when applied to something as full of moving pieces as a populace it becomes almost impossible to define concisely.

Order is not inherently connected to truth and justice. In your... position in the criminal underworld, you must be well aware of that. Even in my line of work, sometimes keeping things in order requires hiding an uncomfortable truth from the public and preventing a panic. I won't stand here and claim that I disagree with that practice in its entirety. Classified information is a necessity of any government. But at the same time this makes the guise of 'keeping order' an extremely convenient tool for suppressing inconvenient facts.

Order is valuable and absolutely necessary for maintaining a safe society - but it's not an ideal that can stand on its own.
