Japan was at relative peace, in my time. [ A very young, very fragile peace. ]

So anyone looking to practice the sword was doing so for self-betterment reasons, to find enlightenment through the blade. That was mostly what it was for me. I didn't really have any aims for power or glory, just... getting better, becoming stronger, than I was before. Competing against myself, yanno?
