[ whether sabo was also following the same couple that hizen was hunting or not isn't as important as the fact that he happened to be at the right place at the right time. or, well, mostly the right time. he was caught up in his thoughts when he hears the sudden splash of water and yelling which catches his immediate attention and run over towards the commotion.
except, so, about diving in after hizen and saving him from the watery depths? (maybe it isn't that deep?) that's not going to be able to happen because of the very real reality of sabo still being able to turn into fire. or, rather, having that connection to it. though, it doesn't mean that he's not going to completely leave hizen alone to hopefully doggy paddle his way back to shore. (if he even knows how to swim.)
instead, he'll make quick work and try to find a way to make due of what the situation calls for—which ends up being the most roundabout way to save someone in this kind of situation. with sabo scaling the side of the bridge and finding a way to secure his coat as he uses it to quickly descend closer to the water where hizen is splashing about. ...and hopefully he is even close enough to reach hizen at this height. ]
