(Man, it sucks when you were just trying to scare someone but the person you're fighting is enough of an amateur that they can't really read your moves. He isn't unsurprised that Yizhi decides to defend himself and a part of him definitely expected it but he'd expected something else. A knife or something blunt, for example. Maybe even some stupid spell he wouldn't have been able to predict considering the territory he's in. It's the latter that really works in his benefit in the sense that he was expecting something unexpected.
He still doesn't expect to be electrocuted. Fire, water, the cold, wind, earth... all of those things he's experienced in some form. Burning castles, raging storms, and that Tamamo punk in the sewers, are just some of the examples. Hell, after fighting shadows and curses all day, he feels like he could handle even that right now. Electricity is a new one though and not one he has a lot of experience with. Yeah, he's shocked himself a few times in the winter and he's felt the electricity in the air when the enemy army appears or the crackle of their blade against his when they fight. He's never actually been shocked directly, though.
He's close enough that he can't dodge and he lets out a surprised yelp. It's enough to catch him off guard! It's enough to surprise him! But Yizhi is right in assuming he's been trained enough to shrug through pain. When someone strikes Hizen, he'll always strike back. Right now, they're close enough that they're rathered tangled but he'll raise his leg and try to kick Yizhi in the shin or stomach. Hard.
He feels kind of funny. Tingly. He's definitely stunned enough that he might... need a second or two to really recenter himself.)

Nice try.
(But he isn't going to fall for that again.)
