But they say something similar. That your 'soul', your spiritual presence, carries the weight of the things you have done during your life, and when you die your soul is reborn as something new within the world based on the weight of those actions.
[Or at least that was what he got from it? Despite literally traveling beside a Buddhist monk for three years without pause he still didn't fully understand these things.]
