Hah, well alright. My kind of thug. [She was chuckling as they walked, shaking her head.] Most of my friends back home are just like that. They make a mess, get into fights, and then the oni show up with drinks and it's a party after the stupidity ends.

[Those aren't your friends, Tenshi. They can barely stand you.]

But you're a cook eh? What do you cook?

We need all the help we can get. If I find out more about what's going on with the collection I'll let you know.

[ She would have thought all that violence would have been enough for him to vent off whatever this is about. That he's still looking like he wants something to hit is disconcerting. ]

What's bothering you?

Anything. Everything. I've been cooking and practicing for a long time. Fortune was on my side and I got to try out alot of things with the benefits of skilled teachers.

[ One of which will never give him a seal of approval, but he's also an demanding Frenchman so - not passing and only getting a 'your dish is fit for humans' is the best he can get. ]

I don't like limiting myself to one or two categories of the culinary arts. So I do whatever I can to master them all.

[ Which, as long as he doesn't die, he has all eternity to do. But he might be dead since he's here, but looks like he can keep going. ]

[ He stops mid-step, her question bringing up a recent experience he'd rather not remember but the memory continues to play. His shoulders stoop for a moment but with a deep breath he's recovered, anger running a new through his veins. ]

It should be obvious ain't it? These guys using these things like weapons.

[ He won't admit the level of personal satisfaction he'd take from this, but he also thinks she's well aware of the personal nature of this hunt. ]

Oh.

[ Right. And she's sending him out to find them. In that case she won't be surprised at whatever he ends up doing then. As long as he brings in those haniwa then it's an effective way of getting what she wants. She'll look the other way. That ought to be enough reward. ]

Do what you must.

You're not going to come along?

[ He turns to her now wondering if she realizes just what she's about to let walk away. He doesn't look particularly concerned about having back up or not, he wants to know if he's going to have someone holding him back. ]

[ That's enough of him for one day. She got what she came for. The less she has to do with this the better. She doesn't even want to know. Suddenly she has very urgent business to attend to... supposedly. She'll find something. ]

I have things to do at the station. I'd better get back there now.

[ He silently walked away after regarding her for a moment. Equal voices in his head tells him this is wrong and it's also right, both sides fighting for supremacy to decide his actions. Neither win, neither control him, but both move his feet - one infront in the other - towards things he only saw as numbers that need to be added to his notch.

He disappears into the alleyway, footsteps fading into the shadows.

Some time will pass, and a few thugs will be brought into the precint - left near the station with a note that says 'for the Enma' they said - beaten badly, but still able to walk. Some were so badly beaten they had to be rushed to the hospital. Close to them were the haniwa, spread out neatly that they can be picked up and contained. Or whatever counts as contained. ]

[She glanced over at him, raising an eyebrow. Oh, that was definitely something. There weren't a lot of people who talked about things like "the culinary arts" and different styles.]

So, you're more an actual chef than just someone who cooks? That's kind of nice. Haven't really had anything fancy to eat in a long while, not unless you count heavenly peaches. And they're great and all, but you have one, you've had em all.

I was trying to be humble, but yes - I'm a chef.

[ And a barrista, and a bartender, and a baker. ]

Heavenly Peaches? [ Did she mean... ] Like 'Peaches of Immortality'? Those Heavenly Peaches??

Oh, it's nice someone around here actually knows what I'm talking about when I say that. most folks have never heard of the peaches of immortality. Yeah, that was pretty much all I used to eat for I don't know how long in heaven.

You get real sick of peaches after a while.

[ He squints at her as if she's insane, and that's rich coming from someone like him, but after some consideration - hearing of someone eating heavenly peaches while in HELL doesn't really sound absurd. ]

That's kinda disappointing, I thought those things would taste more....mystical or something. Shame to hear that they're a one trick pony when it comes to flavor.

[ A beat. ]

Might make a good peach melba though.

[ To say that the downed isonade is helpless to fight back is completely and wholly accurate. Felix doesn't keep himself from leaping right onto it's back to evade another strike from one of the few remaining ones still on their feet. But Felix lashes out mercilessly, the blade cutting into its side and then across its chest, making it stumble back. ]

The only requirements they seem able to pass end up making them proficient in 'how to die a foolish death'.

[ As he sees this, he slams his foot into a face of the one who tried to get its bearings back so it could charge, knocking it off of its feet before he brings his blade down to keep it on the floor alongside its other similarly downed ally. ]

Well they do... It's nothing like eating a regular peach. I actually can't stand regular peaches. They're the same. It's insanely juicy. The texture is perfect to bite into. The flavors are more potent and sublime than anything you'll ever have. Even if it's the food of heaven, if it's all you eat... you lose your appetite. You never see anything but those peaches! Bunch of folks in the family missed eating regular human food, having regular lives.

[She laughed. Story of her life right there.]

Oh man, like nothing you've ever tasted. But it's sacrilegious for humans to eat the food of heaven, so we don't spread them around. I only got to because the whole family was elevated.

Well, don't kill them-

[ He says before swaying back and cutting across the chest of one of his current foes, then turning around and doing the same to the other. ]

-not all of them at least. We need them to talk after all.

[ With his current foes down on the ground he ran for the his next quarry only to stop short, and turn right around. ]

Reinforcements!

[ A few more isonade show up, this time armed with pipes, knives, and knuckle dusters. He captured their attention with good number chasing him as he free ran his way across the battle, ducking under swings and kicks, and having the isonade fumble into and over their reinforcements. ]

I'll bet it is.

[ Sacrilegious he means, not that has stopped him before. ]

So, other than peaches, there's nothing else in heaven? That's a pretty big let down.

Well, there's the gods. There's all of the enlightened and those who have ascended. And there's activities and Amaterasu's court, but I don't really get invited to the fancy shindigs.

[Because she was a constant disruption.]

I mean if you want peaceful existence, it's great. Eternal peace. [Yawn] I never really had a choice?

Don't worry. I won't kill all of them. But how about teaching them a lesson?

[ They're rabid, monstrous beasts who deserve to die, but he knows that they'll need at least one or two left over for the purposes of the mission. Either way, he's going to beat them into submission if they don't die.

Unfortunately, it seems like more have shown up. But...he will pull his blade out, giving it a slight swing to flick off some blood. ]

You know what they say about such trash. The bigger they are, the harder they'll fall!

[ Felix runs over to join them, and in fact moves with ease out of their own retaliatory movements. The dark-haired male has excellent reflexes and speed to thank for that. For a moment he'll even sheath his blade, and then swing with his foot to land a kick into the legs of the creature in order to unbalance it...and cause it to crash into another isonade. Essentially making those two look like fools and increase the amount of fumbling going on here. ]

Uhuh....

[ Yeah, peaceful existence is just not in the cards for him. Not anymore. ]

So, essentially incredibly boring? That's pretty expected, I guess.

Incredibly boring. I sort of 'get it.' For the enlightened, it's the prize that they've been seeking all this time. They're at nirvana. They're ready for it. I just kind of showed up there.

It's really boring when you're not prepared for that sorta thing.

[ He's pretty sure that's not how the saying goes but, he's not about to argue that with anyone doing a good job.

He dashed low, losing speed and coming to a halt while turning, then bolting towads Felix's direction but leapt up and using the bodies in the way to jump up and over the newcomers. He drew his blade as he fell, bringing the blade down and trapping the isonade between him and Felix.

Quickly he dispatched his opponents, sharkmen falling disabled one after the other until he eventually stands face to face with Felix. ]

Good form.

[ Finding a good sword arm is a rare thing in his world so to find such people here was amusing to say the least. ]

Looks like we've made quite a mess of them. Wrap it up boys, and bring me one that can talk.

[ The onis with them all acknowledged his order as he stepped lightly towards the center of this chaos, waiting for the next fish man stupid enough to still try something. ]

Paradise is supposed to be a place of rest. Kinda defeats the purpose if there's a bit too much stimulation, eh?

[ In the distance the familiar neon sign of the subway entrance being right around corner catches his eye. ]

Here we are. You got any change?

[ Immediately he rummages through his pockets, all six of them and getting a few coins for the machine. ]

[She rifled through her pockets, pulling out a small amount. She'd probably use up what extra she had to do this job and be done with it, but at least she had a little. Sighing, she went up to the machine and grunted.]

If you ask me, those old codgers could use some stimulation now and again. [Clink] They never appreciate it when I tell them that though.

[ He's about a hundred percent sure that he's gotten the measure of what she's like from that statement alone, and now he wonders if she was cast out or something. ]

I wonder why?

[ He gets his own ticket and frowned just at how expensive it is. This is highway robbery. ]

Have you considered that perhaps they might actually like how boring it is?

You're not bad yourself. Clearly you've got more than your fair share of skill to employ in battle. An asset in battle.

[ Felix certainly isn't about to forget that anytime soon. Bishop's skill is commendable and though he's a harsh young man who'd sooner deride than give praise in most situations, someone having notable skill isn't something he'd pass on commenting.

Now, their current shark friends? Yeah, he doesn't think there's much to look at in terms of combat ability. Not to mention their evident clear willingness to fight dirty like the animals that they are. ]

Hmph. If they're wise enough enough, they won't struggle. They are evidently outmatched.

[ Some do look like they want to fight but are mostly in no state to, even as the oni continue to clearly search for one who can (or will) speak on the matter. Properly. ]
