People are often scared of what they don't understand. [ As though someone's mental affliction is somehow catching, as though it has any bearing on their own lives. Kim has lived through enough of that for much different reasons. He may not understand what it's like in Fukuda's head, but he can at least have enough compassion for someone who has gone so perpetually misunderstood that his friends - if he has any - have let him labour underneath the misconception that the stale air whizzing through his head is what cured him. It can't be sanitary, he thinks. ]
At any rate, I appreciate the sentiment. It is true that most officers are in dire need of more mental health training, but the funding... [ So much could be avoided if they knew proper conflict resolution. And so much couldn't. But it would help. ] Maybe that's a perspective you can bring to your own policing. It can go a long way.
[ Is Hell preoccupied with mental health consultants? Kim doesn't think so, but it's probably a better place for Fukuda than the field. Someone might try to use that hole in his head as target practice. ]
