Instead of stressing, he chooses to just shove a spoonful of ice in his mouth. Eating always makes him feel better. It can't let him down now. The fact that he has to eat it before it all melts is just something else to focus on. He doesn't need to confirm what Matoba already knows. Being separated from his sword would be risky. COnsidering it's his true form, if something were to happen to it, he could be in trouble. His silence should be enough to let Matoba know he's right.
As for that last point though... he needs a moment to finish eating a another spoonful of ice,)
